Dumbarton House Wedding

Caitlin and Michael's Dumbarton House, Washington, DC wedding

I must begin by acknowledging what an incredible job Love Life Images did with this joyous wedding between Caitlin and Michael. This may be my all time favorite shoot. Elisha Maria has such a magic eye and is so much fun to work with! Of course all of her subjects were simply beautiful to capture - and I do mean all…the stunning bride, dapper groom, doting parents, gorgeous St. Mary Mother of God Catholic Church, and charming Dumbarton House.

Being a boutique wedding planning and coordination company, we get our fair share of beloved offbeat couples that plan rad, offbeat weddings. #loveoffbeat! That said, when a super classic, traditional wedding comes my way it always makes for a very special treat. The major highlights of this event included Caitlin's gown and lace trimmed veil, the vintage car, and personalized wax sealed notes for each guest!

The other touching part about this wedding was the role of Caitlin's dad. Dr. Amborski fully embraced the notion of his little girl getting married - he took wedding planning to a whole new level! At times I was taking notes from him ;-) No stone was left unturned and his number one objective, which was without a doubt accomplished, was to make Caitlin and Michael's day as beautiful, perfect, and memorable as ever.

Congratulations to Dr. & Mrs. Taylor!

Photo by The Colagrossis Some people don't know this about me, but I'm an introvert. It may seem odd for an event planner to be an introvert, but trust me, it works. Therefore, it was a pleasure working with Mimi and Gavin, two of the most introverted people I've ever met! Many people planning weddings are aching to be the center of attention. Mimi and Gavin were the complete opposite! They knew themselves, but also knew their families - and so they planned a small, intimate wedding that allowed them to celebrate with their families while also not being horribly overwhelmed, socially. The Dumbarton House was a perfect fit. After their first look and some beautiful portraits in the Dumbarton gardens, they had a Catholic ceremony at Holy Rosary in DC. Post ceremony, guests were shuttled over to the Dumbarton for cocktails, followed by dinner and dancing. Windows provided amazing food and service, as usual. Studio DBI (before their move to the West Coast - sob!), did the stunning florals, and Josh from MyDeejay kept everyone on the dance floor. The wonderful photographers, The Colagrossis, provided the lovely photos, below!

Special shout-out to Mimi's gorgeous outfit change into a traditional Vietnamese wedding dress half way through the ceremony. The red on her was ridiculously beautiful - couldn't get over what a stunning bride she was!

Congrats again to Mimi and Gavin!

Lauren and Carl // Dumbarton House Wedding, Washington, DC // DC wedding coordinator

Photo by M&E Photography Lauren and Carl got married on a hot May day this past spring at the Dumbarton House in DC. It was a gorgeous mix of some traditional, classic elements (like the venue itself, and the stunning bride), with some personal, less-traditional touches (like their adorable dog walking in the ceremony, and the wedding cake their FRIEND made for them!).

After a steamy ceremony outdoors, guests moved to the side of the house (in some shade!) to enjoy cocktails and lawn games. They then were led downstairs to the tented courtyard and house for dinner and dancing. Towards the end of dinner they had some (lengthy, but lovely) toasts and then the dancing kicked in led by the Blue Tip Rhythm Revue... and the rest is history!

Congrats again to Lauren and Carl... and their awesome puppy (that bow tie collar is everything)!
